State of chaos
im being told i need to make green water for the fw mussel. how do i do that? also what other foods can i give him?
thanks,
AJ:)

Try keeping a light on for 24 hours in a container of water. Keep the container on a windowsill that gets a lot of sun. You can then put the green water in ur main tank.

i think you mean infusoria fill a clear caontainer with old water put it in the sun i think thats how its done but not shure i think mussels are filter feeders so it should be able to get food out of the water

No food, only small organisms in the water column. FW clams/mussels are a little difficult to keep alive because they usually starve to death.

I would suggest trying frozen baby brine shrimp. They're tiny

im actually being told to put the mussel back in the lake. im not sure what to do...
id really, REALLY rather not have it die...but i know how bad captive release is...
im leaning towards putting it back :(

make a pond for it?

Where did you get it from? If you took it form a lake, and you decide to not keep it then take it back to the lake and let it go. If its captive bred, try to give it to someone or take it to the LFS or something. I dont wanna worry you, but if you wanna keep it I think that if you know what you are doing you can take care of it right. Im only saying that they are filter feeders so its important they have sufficient food or they die. Got a pic of it at all?
