Greetings and Options..What did we get??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok since you seem quite new I would HIGHLY suggest typing this word in the search bar "cycle" and reading until your blue in the face. This is BEYOND important information for you to know by heart, it is the cornerstone of successful fish keeping. Also look into the basic concepts of filtration as you will find what really works is not always what is sold to you at the store.

Another note: Depending on where you live "well" water can be full of nitrates and is much worse to use than city water (as long as you let it sit overnight).

congrats on the tank and Welcome to MonsterFishKeepers!

You think your hooked now...just wait...

So should we just use regular tap water then? The guy bringing the water seems to think it's the best thing for the fish and he's also the one who advised us that the fish only need to eat once or twice a week....we live in Maryland, suburbs...

i'm sorry. i was confused. I thought they kept 90% of the water and you only kept 10% in the tank.

hmm.. kept 90 percent.. sounds dangerous.. people in general are not very good with waterchanges..

Welcome to MFK, you seem to have a very good attitude about all this.. best of luck to you and sorry about the paroons.. /=

Welcome. You've gotten some good advice already. All I can add is repetitive. Check the water parameters! Probably should do a water change..30% anyway. With some kind of water dechlorinater. You've come to the right place! Now just do all the research...and watch that mini-cycle, that part scares me.
