Grey Bamboo Shark (Chiloscyllium griseum)?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have an adult grey bamboo that has maxed out at 24 inches. In public aquariums, I haven’t seen them any bigger than this. Without a doubt the best shark for the home aquarium. I got mine by accident as a tiny pup when my LFS ordered and sold it as a banded catshark (a.k.a brownbanded bamboo). Greys are almost impossible to order by name. Collectors and distributors haven’t caught on to favoring the species over the brownbanded. I did happen to see a nice 12 inch grey in a LFS in Clearwater, FL last week. But the store said they got it totally by chance.
BTW, I have years of experience keeping bamboo sharks. I urge anyone contemplating purchasing a bamboo shark to read my book. It is available by searching for ‘bamboo shark’ on Amazon or can be ordered at http://www.sharkscentral.com/.
