I find that my rosie and glass barbs eat the stuff pretty well, but not the black hair.. green hair they gobble.. So do some livebearers..
Black hair algae is usually the result of improper nutrient balance, high nitrates, extended photoperiods, and most likely the WRONG TYPE OF LIGHT BULB. (spectrum, kelvins)
