I see that in my post, parts of the REMOVING FILTER weren= accidentally deleted. It should been like this:
REMOVING Filter
1- turn filter off
2- close both valves
3- unplug filter and extract cord. Use a twisty so you don't step on dangling cord.
4- Connect drain hose to drain outlet, and position plastic pan and bucket, but don’t open the valve yet (as it will not drain much)
5- Release pressure inside canister. Can do it by either of two ways: loosen the white connectors around the lid, or disconnect the hoses, beginning with the output hose. The easiest way to disconnect is this - press the orange side of the valve with thumb while at the same time rotate the whole valve to both sides about a quarter of a turn while pulling up; several times will disconnect it (having them well greased will make this easier). Disconnect the intake hose.
6- With hose end in the shallow plastic pan, open the drain valve in the canister. Now it will drain fast. Close it and empty the shallow pan into a bucket as many times as needed to drain the maximum amount of water possible (~3gal). This water you can use to rinse any part of the media you consider biological; you will need more than that volume.
7- Remove the filter (now much lighter) from under stand and take it to the cleaning place.
Hope this helps you.
