Oops, I didn't know it was a planted tank. You might want to only add a tablespoon per every 10 gallons in that case. I don't want to end up killing off your plants with some bad advice.

Nahh, don't worry about it! :)

They are some hardy plants, with the convits in there and all! All of them could take salt: 3 Java ferns, 2 Amazon and 1 rubin swords, 1 banana plant, and 1 anubis.

I'm just worried about the snails, how much salt could the apple and ramshorn deal with? I have the MTS in my brackish, so I know they would be OK.

Oh, and are you talking about 1 TBS. per 5 gallons or what? How much salt do you think would help out with the algae?

Originally I suggest one per 5 g. After learning you had plants I suggested 1 per 10 g. If I had actually taken the time to read your sig, I would've noticed you had snails, and not suggested salt at all. I'm not very snail-savvy, so I'm probably out of my element here.

I have kept many of the cheaper plants and have never had a problem at the 1tbs per 5 gallon ratio. I don't have any expierience with chemipure at all but two things seem to work for slime algae and diatoms, first up the ammount of higher plants, java moss and elodea would be my choice for their speed of growth, and second add more biomedia. Another hangon or even a box filter with the carbon replaced with lave rock chips will do.
