Separate species will form packs in the wild... perhaps during feeding time, you will see a 'group effort'.
I remember one particularly well documented "cardinalfish hunt" in the philippines where different lionfish all surrounded a very large urchin until the cardinalfish had to come out, and they were then eaten.

if you're gonna get a group of lions get one male, and the rest females, as having more than one male in the same tank can get aggressive.
