Growing edibles in your fish tank?

I can say you will be able to grow green onions.

I planted them In My garden and every year they come back bigger and bigger.

I don’t think you’ll have any problems with them.

I’ve grown them in a glass of water in my window before, so I’d imagine they would grow even better with pond water:)

Lol....
Grow tilapia, they aint bad
I keep seeing them at the grocery store and I try not to watch them....last time I was there there were two of them fighting off the rest of the tilapia it was kind of sad

That’s funny bc I do the same thing, sometimes I forgot to change or top up the water and they always die.

But outside in my garden they do fantastic.

You have live tilapia at your grocery store?
I like eating tilapia, but don’t think I have the heart to raise it and then eat it.

I had the same problem. The water eventually evaporated quicker then I payed attention to it. I never did try growing it outside.

Yea pretty sure they are tilapia (can’t say I ever read the tag to confirm, I will now next time I am there) but they are a pink/grey fish fairly large. Not sure if they kill it before they wrap it or how you take it home when you purchase it.

You’ll never eat it all when you grow it outside!!! It also grows pretty purple flowers, I have read you want to cut the flows off as flowering changes the taste. But I never do anything special, if I get a flower stock in the bunch I just cut I throw the flower stock away and use the surrounding green onions

That would make sense, how about rosemary and thyme? I use those quite a bit more than basil and mint...
No idea. Probably.

In my greenhouse I have a small tank that I'm trying to grow some aquatic plants in. I've dropped a couple tomato cuttings in it and they flowered and grew fruit. Smallish, but I'd imagine they'd grow better with the extra circulation and nutrients from an actual tank rather than just an empty one without any fish.

Ive grown lettuce and of coarse pothos. I'm going to try strawberries. Tomatoes never ripened and took a ton of water too. I used a fired slate substrate in grow pots hooked to the side of the tank. I want to set up a flood table setup some day soon. Romain, red bib, and green bib all grew great. I have some random other plants growing right now just pieces taken before winter killed them in the yard.
