I have over 300 total jag and jd fry. I keep them all together im growing in a 55 i keep the temp at 80 even, ive been feeding broken up flakes, and dried krill broken into powder. They just are not growing fast enough. I want to sell them or trade them at an inch long. but they are all over 3 months old now.
Thank you

3 months and not an inch dose sound a bit slow. Temp and food selection sound good but how often are you feeding? I'm not a pro but I have raised several batches of fry and each time I fed them several times a day. Im sure you know it really dosent take much food however just like any baby they need to eat almost constantly. W/C's may also be a factor, 30% once a week wont cut it for babies, I usually did 30% every other day and the fry grew fairly quick.

I think total ive lost less then 5 babies over 8 batches. To be completely honest I feed a very large amount every morning before leaving for work (flakes), and a very large amount of hand broken dried krill after we get home before going to bed. My w/c are 25% on wednesday and 50% either sat/sun during the weekend. I know the number sounds like a lot for a 55. But these guys are tiny!! Not a single one is larger then a 1/4 of an inch. The temp stays at 80 degress unless changing water but it never drops below 72 before it starts rising again. I have notice you can tell that all the jags are much larger then the JDs. It not so much that im in a hurry for selling, But this is my 8th batch with never being able to get rid of a single baby. I keep telling people who are interested to wait they are not large enough. And I already have another batch of eggs yesterday. Im a bit worried about being overrun. But i do have (5) fourty gallon plastics I can use in emerg. Thank you guys for the imput.

yeah i would try and thin them out into the plastic tubs or get them a bigger tank, i just know when i grew up my festae fry that i got from VRWC, the ones in his big tank with the parents still grew way faster than the ones i was growing up in my 20g long even though i was feeding multiple times a day and doing 50% water changes every other day and only had like 15 in a 30in long tank and they took FOREVER to reach 1in and even then they pretty much killed each other off so i only had 3 that reached 1in and by the time i put them into my big tank the dominant male had pulled a highlander move and killed off the last 2 when he was only barely over an inch long

haha no that is seriously his life's motto when it comes to other festae, he is totally chill in my tank with every other fish, just not his own kind... (well except for the escondido, they have been fighting since they were 1.5in long as well but nothing serious)
