I just got rid of most of my mid-full size cichla to replace them with new and more rare fish. I kept one orino around 6 inches and one occel around 7 inches. My new stock is about 2 inches lol. The way I see it I have 3 options and I need help choosing the best option. #1: is to put them in the 75gal sump that is kept at about half full and I wouldn't see them very much# 2: is to make a huge baby net/cage and float it in the 500 along with the bigger bass. #3 would be to put them in a 40 gallon that would be the safest but I would have to get them in a bigger space before they got to 4 inches... im leaning towards making a cage out of pvc and screen and floating it but what does everyone else think?

You already know the option Live Brotha after a normal feeding live to get them to eat more:naughty::grinno:

i think the PVC pipe and screen nets thing would be your best bet just make sure there is no way for the to get out

I would put em in the 40g and power feed em. What type of fish are they? If you can get em eating massivore they will grow like weeds.

Idk about the screen thing mite be too risky if the fish are valuable. I wud go with the 40 n wIth live if u really want growth...quarantines feeders of course;)

recently lost an oscar to my floating cage. must of jumped the sides >.<
So there is always a chance of that happening...

I think the positive to the cage would be a BUNCH more water volume and better filtration but risky. They could jump out or a hole could eventually wear in the screen. But if I put them in the 40 it will be safer, however it will have less filtration and less water volume and I worry that will slow the growth... would the best option be to grow them to 3-4 inches in the 40 then just make a good divider out of eggcrate and divide the 500???
