growing out/ catching up help

The sump is really the best bet, cuz it has the safety of being its own separate tank but has no other fish in it.. however I worry about them getting sucked threw the bulkhead and into my pump.. what would be a good way to screen off the bulkhead without losing water flow

Just put them in the 40g and get em eating pellets asap. Live will also give them good growth but its expensive and then you gotta ween them off live...and that can be a pain. I def. wouldnt use the sump if you have an extra 40g.

You have a good point.. does anyone have a idea of where the growth rate will peak or slow down in a 40 gallon with 7 bass?

K im thinking to power feed and do 2 waterchanges per week in the 40 until they hit 4 inches. Then ill make a divider in the 500 and grow the new bass from 4 to 6 inches behind the divide. After that they should have caught up to the 7 inch occel. And I should have a complete tank again in 6-8 months lol... anyone see any negitaves to this plan?

the other fish will grow as well and two bass being in a 500 gal tank will grow realitivly quick!

I have thought about that and I will feed my 500 every other day and feed my growout tank twice a day

I think ill just have to get the new fish to 4-5 inches and they will be safe. They are coming in at 2 inches so in all reality they will be in the tank in 3 months tops im hoping

Thanks guys I know the 40 is the safest bet but how big will they get in a 40? Im growing out 5 orino and 2 intermedia

where did you get your intermedia?
