Growing Plants in your sump

you dont need alot of light i use a 26watt power compact GE 6500k bulb walmart
$5 no reflector it just sits on top of my sump

Salvinia grows locally so for me its free

in one month 3 plants covered a 12x36 sump lights are on 24/7
i have 2 sumps one is standard job (mech/bio/sponge/pump/heater/U.V.)
the 2nd is the planted sump the 2 are connected via a syphon(input) and a 200gph pump (return)

salvinia grows fast (doubles every 2-3days) nitrates are around 5ppm with no
W/C which i do 2x per month tank is a 240 with lg arow and pbass

Dr. Joe what do you mean about the "baffle to regulate the water height in the sump" ?
