as snakeheads go they are quite slow,,,haveing said that it depends on
the feeding routine, what you feed ,warter quaity, fillteration,,,basicly i think it is down to the health of the indevidual fish,,eg i have four mud skipers all are fully grown but one is half the size of the others

That’s spot on feed and water quality play the biggest part in this, I have found in the past with experimentation on smaller fish(when I used to show Angle fish years ago) that warmer water with lots of water changes and plenty of air stones in it the fish grow at twice the rate than the cooler water less water changes and no forced air. Also a varied diet is a must.

But they are not a huge Snakehead and not the fastest grower the bigger ones tend to be the faster growers.

Hoi,

warmer water speeds up the metabolism - so they will take more feed and grow faster. But growing too fast isnt good for the fishes.

I take cichlid-sticks and some other kind of dry-feed for young channas.

I keep most of the tanks at 25° C and about 3-4 times per week feeding.
They get every time frozen or live food - only live OR frozen / not mixed - but everytime i give some sticks (dryfood) with the other. Every second day i give only dryfood and not very much... only that they have something to play ;)

Also they have to feel very well in their tank - so they need much places to hide, swimplants, much plants... and so on. Channas need an underwater jungle :)

Max size in 12-14" range. Quickly can reach maturity level in it's first 2 years, I beleive also. Enjoy and happy keeping! :)

Mines growing at around 1" per month in temp of 72 fed on pellets and prawns.
;)

thanks all
