Growth on my Datnoid.

Hi guys recently got my old IT back and when I got him he.had like a red sore after I had moved him into the tank,and now its growing like a cone into a point around 1/4" long,I'm treating the tank with melafix but it seems worse than it was last night,any ideas.what it is and how to get rid?

I've seen growths that were mycobacterial infections that formed into a sort of bulging abscess. I used some pretty strong antibiotics to control it.

Thanks for the.reply mate,its quite big really and.has grown quickly,il try and get pics but its difficult,il treat with salt and melafix and see how it goes,doesn't seem to be bothering him.

Yeah, the one I observed grew really fast as well. Faster than even a fast-growing tumor would grow. It was resistant to most antibiotics until I used a combination of TMP-sulfa and kanamycin. Melafix is almost completely useless against even weak bacteria let alone mycobacteria.

This is what I had to deal with:

It started off as a small bump and then grew to that size over about two weeks.

my 21" grows tiny pimple on his forehead ocassionally. just like red/white pimple, NOT tumor, once in a while, and it'll go away after a water change with some salt. Seems like most big dats I've had kind of have that sympton once in a while. Not sure if its the same thing you got though...

Man . That's quite a big lump . Looking at it , does make u wanna chop it of. But that might get infected . Never seen this before ...

Yeah, the pointy bit has been rubbed off now so its just a raised red bump now,going to do a wc now and put salt in and see if it heals,if not il cut it off.
