Growth rate, Cichlasoma Ornatus

I have had them for about two years and they are slow growers compared to many large Central Americans (like Dovii for example). They grow at about the same rate as Festae. Mine are now in the 8 inch range......

Mel, interesting you would compare them to festae. In your experience with them, do they remind you much of festae in behavior, feeding etc? I ask because when I saw your vid for the first time I thought that the ornatus looked very similar in body shape and even to some degree in coloration to festae.

I'm wondering if they might eventually be grouped in the same genus as festae.

Rapps told me they are very closely related...and I think Mel mentioned it in his vid too.
