a planted 240 with a large rhom or manny and a bunch of small schooling fish would look amazing (i have plans for that in the future), but a pygo shoal is a good fit for a 240... you could put a bunch in there with just driftwood and a few plants.

Someday I plan on going that exact route. Most likely a 180-220 though. But its going to take me years to get there....Too many financial responsibilities in my old age.
But for now, and a long time from now, I'll love what I've got.

Haven't decided completely yet on what species of school to get....I'm leaning toward White Cloud Mountain Minnows.
I'd be quarantining them like a b***h though. Can't imagine a worst case scenario of losing a 15" Rhombeus to a sick minnow.

Now that I think about it, could probably try that with the Rhom I have now after a few years....IF he ever decides to get lazy.

once i get my 75 finished up and planted, i'm gonna add some otos and then through trial and error, i'll find some tetras or other small quick fish from the same region to help complete the look. i know it's gonna end up costing an arm and a leg, but it will be worth it... i hope.

i have been tempted to set up a tank in anticipation of cobrafox's (p-fury) macs spawning... i would love to get a bunch of fry from him and have my own group of macs. i had my pair together for over a year, but i split them up when i remodeled my fish room and i didn't want to risk trying to put them back together.

i thought about adding white clouds to my compressus tank and then I learned they were cypronids. From what I understand barbs will cause B vitamin deficiency.

Don't know what I'm gonna do yet. We'll see whats around when I get the tank. Ideas are welcome and I appreciate the help guys.

you could just set up a dozen or so tanks, then you wouldn't have to settle for just one type of piranha... problem solved

haha I thought about that I really did. A buddy of mine pointed out that she (the wife) may only give me big tank privileges once in a lifetime. If I go with a couple of racks of 50 breeders I may never have my big tank, where as if I have a 7 footer chillin in the basement, it won't be that big of a deal if I pick up a few other tanks here and there to go along with it. I gotta sieze the tank joe!

That is true. However, it wouldn't become an issue unless you were planning on them becoming part of your fishes diet. Which I wouldn't.
If I were to stick those in my 7" rhom's tank, he would pick them off easily one after another.

haha, sounds like a plan.... my girl loves big tanks, she gets annoyed with all the random little ones i have laying around tho. i really have been thinking about getting rid of most of my smaller set ups and just keeping my convict breeder setup, a cherry shrimp colony or two, and one other smaller setup and using the extra space to buy a 125 or 180 to give me my fix before i start the pond this winter.
