growth rate of an silver aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have personally had a silver go from 3" to 24"+ in 10 months. i had it in a 180gal from the 4-5" on. i have a silver now that is 23" and a littl over a year, raised that one from eggsack. i have an 7month old aro that is 14-15"+-(moved around alot and beat up by another aro a few times). i have noted that if you move them alot they grow slow, due to stress. if you say put them in a big tank and don't mess with them, then they will grow at a good rate. higher temps is one way to increase growth rates, but with this they will need lots of food(almost constant). don't be suprised if you are doing everything right and you get 3"+ in a month.

whoa 3 inch a month( not to mention the plus sign), so u looking at 36" or 3 FEET freaking long fish in a YEAR :WHOA:
u must be just trying to scare people off, are we talking about captived arowana here:nilly:

like others side depends alot of factor but if u do everything right and have very good water quality that mimick the native water u prolly will see 1.5/month grow, which is quick growth already and more real.
so 1-1.5 per month is about what is expected when everything is just right

No they slow down growing about the 20-24 inch mark and then do not grow nearly as fast but 3 inches a month is not the average

if you actually read everything in my post and other posts by me, you will see that i have and have owned several arowanas for a few years. you have had a poorly kept aro for a month maybe a month and a half. how can you even start to question what i say for growth of my fish kept in large tanks with perfict water quality all the time with out your craked idea of a trainning time? my aros have had a 4.5" growth in a month and have had 2" growth the next month, the next month no length, but depth. it changes thats why i said if you are doing everything right don't be suprised if you see 3"+ in a month.

how long does it take for aro to get full size:feedback:
for this kind of question, I would say 1000 years!
no Arowana can live that long and when its die, that's its max size !

no i do not believe aro will grow 3 inch+ in a month.
what i have seen from my fish and all LFS store(quality LFS) that carries all kinda arowana, they grow about 1-1 1/2 inch a month.
what i did MAYBE considered not right to u, but r u flaming those quality LFS too and some members that posted what i observed growth rate of SA and claimed they have the prestine Water quality?
