Ok so I have a couple of EBJD's and they are growing good. I was wandering if there was any type of food you all would recommend to help them grow faster. I know that water changes are a big part but what about the food? I feed them Hikari pellets, Omega one I think it is, and Brine Shrimp with Spiral I think it is. So any advice would helpfully.

They grow slow no matter what you feed them. I've tried many things. What worked best for me and it was not by much, was a homemade frozen food I made with around 50% salmon and 50% veg mix.

Try hikari massivore, break up the pellets. I also feed hikari gold and worms from the garden. My 2 biggest electric blues are 8'' and the other is gaining now just under 8''. The other stopped at around 6.5''. Hopefully you get lucky and they don't get the sit in one spot and stop eating disease like most seem to get. I think it is either parasites or internal infections. Mine are starting to not be as active and big of eaters, but massivore has so much calories that I think I am fighting a losing battle.
By the way mine won't touch smelt, silversides of fish filets..for some reason, never really have. I feed that to my bichirs as a nice snack.

is it the cook salmon you used and what veggies???

Feed mine everything. And switch it up everyday. Here is my list of food I feed.
Dry krill He LOVEd it.
SPIRULINA veggie flakes
frozzen bloodworms
frozzen brine shrimp and liver mix
Hikari cichlid gold pellets

I feed twice a day and do large wc twice a week. The more I feed the more wc I do. Never had any health problems with this guy other then he had ich when I got him.

I got my ebjd sep. 2, 09 he was 1 inch it's been about 8 months and he is 4 inches. He's a big pig and yes he grows way slower then my severum who was 1" and I got a month after my ebjd. My severum is now almost 5".

Ebjd are great fish mine has so much spunk not at all shy not aggressive but can hold his own. Him and my true parrot are the rulers of the tank.

Masuka (my ebjd) eats just about everything! Aside from pellets, flakes, and freeze dried krill, he loves prawns, earthworms, crickets, steamed peas and beefheart.I agree with snowflake...EBJD are great fish! Mine has such personality and not at all shy!

i got mine back in DEC of 09 and he was 3" now he is 5" and it may 10. i feed him shelled peas, SPIRULINA veggie flakes, Hikari cichlid pellets. they are great fish to have. :D
