i got a 3" pair of jds with 2 male 1.5" hrps. i had them for a month or so now i was reading online about jds being slow growers. i feed mine cichlid sticks and hikari cichlid staple . its promoted on both that they help the fish grow "faster". witch i cant deny when i first tried those foods on my green terrors witch i know are some what slow growers they went from being a inch and a half to 3" in a few weeks and almost instantly had growth sperts nearly every week. now will this diet work the same way or will the jds grow at their own rate?

No help?

I would assume that you should expect similar growth on that diet. Most importantly, keep up the water changes as good water quality helps tremendously when looking for growth.
I have 2 JDs and one is only around 3" long and has only grown an inch in the last 6 months and another one at around 6" and he had grown an inch in the last month. Both are on the same diet and in the same 240gal tank.

oh ok i guess once they reach about the 5" mark they grow faster cause i have another male alone in a 55gal. and i got him at 5" and now hes about 7" and i got him like 2 weeks before i got them pair and the hrps.
i also feed the larger male the same diet.

i got my jack dempsey at 2 inches about 8 months ago. hes about 5-6 inches now. i only feed him bloodwors because thats all he eats.

I got both mine at the same time they were about 3 1/2" . It's been over a year and my one JD is 8 1/2" long. The other about 6".

My Oscar and the JD are the kings of the tank. Actually the Oscar is... :)

My Dempsey's are growing fast.:D
My new Blue genes, have grown from 3/4" - 1" to 2 1/2" - 3" in a month.
And my EBJD's have grown from 1 3/4" - 2" to 3" - 3 1/2" in the same month.
I feed them bloodworms 3x a day, Whatever they eat in 5 min.
With an emperor 400, And a eheim 2217 on a 55 gal tank. ;)
Weekly 20% water changes. And I keep the temp above 80 degrees.
Here is a shot of my favorite EBJD, He's pushing 4".
The water is a little cloudy, Just feed them. But the filters will clear it up in an hour.
