? Growth rate on carpnitis escondido:

They grow s l o w.
I had one in a 75 for maybe 2 years and once I moved him to a 125g I did notice more rapid growth.

If had to put them on a scale I would say they grow faster than Dempseys and Green Terrors but much slower than, Parachomis Sp, Amphilo's and Oscars.

I agree. Texas cichlids are slow growers. I bought one at 3'' and it took 4-5 years to get 8''.

Did you have a female? My male escondido was 8" by the time he was a year old or so.

i bought my escondido and got him june 2008 at 3 inches, he is now 7 inches in march
