Growth Rate Platinum JD

This guy is about 8 months old and I've had him for about 3, with a total of approx .75 inches of growth. 2x 50% water changes a week. Filtration is good. Temp is always kept at 79. Been feeding NLS, massivore, occasional blood worms. What am I doing wrong? I've had tons of ebjd in the past and he has got to be the slowest of them all.

very nice looking EBJD, sounds like you know what you are doing. I would chalk the slow growth up to the terrible genetics that goes into engineering these fish

There's a number of breeders here in the US, but it's a cross between an electric blue jack Dempsey and a gold Dempsey. Since the genes for both gold and blue are recessive both alleles are expressed.

These line bred (as mentioned) are very slow growers, so you're not doing anything wrong.
Even normal JDs are not really fast growers.
