Growth rate

This or maybe longer. Peacocks are not quick growers.
 
Lots of water changes also works for me. If I am trying to grow something out quickly I will do a 20% water change every second day.

I have also found that a power head with an air hose feeding to the outlet that fills the entire tank with tons of very tiny bubbles makes a difference too. You can actually see the fish become more lively in about 5 mins.
