growth seems off...

my tiger oscar was about 2" when i first picked him up in the beginning of February and now hes still around the same size, only more defined.. people say they grow like 1 inch a month and thats total BS from my view... what gives?

my JD is still a baby and i got him about a month ago, he hasent grown either... i guess im very impatient and want them to hurry up and grow but they sure are taking their sweet time..

OH and another story!! get a load of these workers at pet's discount... that one deetdeedee tree hugging lady was trying to tell me that neon jewels and some of her other african cichlids wouldn't be suitable in my 55's because they grow THIS BIG (she makes a gesture with her hands measuring about 3 feet...)

the water is always pristine. and actually no the oscar is in a 29 grow out until i can be rid of my silver aro who is in a 55g (an investment for resale at around 8").

but the tank shouldn't affect him right now hes still a juv! if people could stunt O's that early we prolly wouldn't get any returned/released by those newbs who try to cram them in 10s

do you change the water often o's grow fast jd's are pretty slow growing

oh... really?? maybe i should go buy more jds and try to breed them... the ones at the store must still be small like that too..

i change the water weekly. i try to do 1/4th but usually end up taking out almost 50% WC.

sometimes when your always looking at a fish it seems like its not growing at all

lol thats the same with me i recently bought two small oscars and jack dempseys and i am saying grow grow grow grow grow grow grow grow continuosally in my head lol bit crazy i know but ahaha lol oh well time will go by sonner or later and i will have stunning jd's and oscars grow extremely fast from the last pair i owned and they spwned so i sold them for alot of money lol

How long was the fish at the pet store? i see oscars stay in the same tanks at LFS for months on end. That will stunt there growth i went over seas for three months came back home and seen the same red tiger motas babies in a ten gallon. Now i refuse to buy them because i know there grow is stunted. Thats why i ask how long have the fish been in the store because petsmart and walmarts oscars and other cichlids my be in there for months and a ten gallon and that will stunt there growth.

I've noticed that my O's seem to grow extremely fast (though I didn't notice it till I saw babies as the LFS) but my JD's seem to grow a lot slower.
