We are having a friendly debate about growthrate and max size of Marbles vs normal Motoro.

I would like those of you that keep either Marbles or normal Motoros, or even Motoro morphs (superspot, blue, aparicio, or even oddball) to share with us what kind of growthrates you've been experiencing with your rays. How old are they? How big are they? Maybe even include tank size and feeding schedule. Anything that would influence growthrates.

Trying to figure out if there is a huge general difference across the board or if it breaks down to the individual animal, or care of the animals.

I know this may be difficult as most rays are WC but with enough info maybe we can atleast see some similarities in our findings.

I know lots of us have these kinds of rays so hopefully everyone will participate and maybe we can learn a little......

I have also posted on other thread but my female marble from aquaman45 has doubled in size to over 10inch since April 10 to dec 10.

I have seen her parents and they might not be dustbin lids but they are pretty robust.

For me i talk about "usual" Motoro. I got them pretty much at the same time as this last year. They were wild caught, so the age is a littlebit diffuse, but they were about 5-6 inches when i got them. At this point 1 year later they are about twice the sice, but in volume they look tripple. You get tricked by the volume of the fish when you compare. The disc size may not have changed that much, but hell they get bigger...

They go in a 180 gallon growout, change 50% 1-2 times a week, filtrated over 2xfx5. I feed them every 2-3 days, not everyday, becouse of the volume of the tank and the fact that i have 4xmotoro in an 180 gallon.. 10-12 inch size..(yeah, i will go bigger). . When i feed them i feed til i see they are really "bulby" on their back. I feed them shrimp and frozen fish from the store mostley, they also get some bits that i feed other tank mates.

I got my motoro from Vamptrev, I believe he was born in april or may and I got him in june at around 4-5 inches. He is now in December 9-10 inches. It seems like his growth has slowed a bit in the last month or so.

He is housed in a 150 gallon I do 2 50% wcs a week one on tuesday one on friday.

He eats mainly pellets but have just started to feed him some DIY food using a variation of FM's recipe

how are people measuring the rays....i know that there has been debate in the past about actual measurements versus eye-balled measurements

I have a female retic and 2 male motoros at 5" each.
I'm hoping to post in this thread in a few months and have them double this haha

Bumping this thread up to encourage people to post some BIG Marbles.

I've been waiting years to see a nice Marble that's a proven 2'+

Please help. Someone HAS to have one. Especially since they can reach 4'+

Nothing funner then proving someone wrong. Here's another chance since nobody could a year and a half ago.

John, I KNOW yours was big, and no doubt morphed into a beautiful Marble, but I would have to say it didn't really fit the top shelf Marble requirement in its earlier years. I really believe the nicer they are as juvies, the higher the chances are of them obtaining a smaller max size.

Db you do realize their are different species of motoro. People do not want to post their pics because these types of retarded threads have driven them away from mfk. I know a few guys on this site I've seen theirs and they are around the 20" mark.

20" is a big ray. I've seen tons of motoros over 20" but I do beleive motoro are a very unknown but common species. We have seen small ones big ones, ones with different amounts of spine rows ect..
So I think comparing marbles you have to other rays that look the same but from different country's are irrelevant . Your only proving yourself wrong. You want pictures go on google or on this site in its early days before it became a circus
