Grr...Convicts wont breed!!!

Would it be better to get a different MALE or FEMALE? Furthermore, what do I do with the present one? I am assuming I wont be able to have 2 males and 1 female or 2 females and 1 male or would I?

Hi all,

Two convicts (one male, one female) in a 30g by themselves. Plenty of hide out spaces.

How big are they? I had mine for easily 2 months before they spawned.The male I had constantly chased the female as well.He tore up her fins pretty good.I just kept adding stresscoat,and eventually nature took its coarse.

Male about 2 1/2 inches, female 2 inches...maybe a bit bigger...

That's how big mine where when I got them.It sounds like the female just isn't ready.Either give her some more time,or try trading her in for a bigger one. I guarantee if given more time,the 2 you have will spawn though.

Honestly I don't think it matters which fish you replace. I had a super aggressive male, I switched out the female, He got much less aggressive. It's weird.

So, you just go to Pets Mart and tell em you want to switch the fish? Will they do that to begin with?
