my mother once cleaned an unsealed cheapo ceramic cave thingy with dishsoap once, of course the soap stayed in it and killed all of my fish. She thought my bichir was scared of the betta so she gave it a cave, well as thoughtful as that is, it was poison.

as long as it doesnt kill something super special or expensive, its kind of funny to watch them flounder around trying to be smart about fish.

Like the others said soak it in water keep changing the water.Sooner or later its going to dilute enough so it will do no harm.

Exactly!Love your Mom up man.She was just being Mom. Let it dry out,boil it if possible and/or power wash it. It will be fine if you just keep rinsing it and letting it dry out.Weather is warming up-the sun is your friend.

Also just a thought, next time before any one wants to help you out, make sure you give them the equipment or explain to them why/what they should use to help you out to prevent any of your fish dying... or you could always just ask them to confirm with you if any thing they want to use is aquarium safe...
