GRR stupid flowerhorn

ok..my 3" ZZ fh hasnt eaten any pellets once again....he hasnt eaten for 4-5 days..i did the usual check water params. (ph-7 , nitrate-0 nitrite-0 ammonia-0) , today im cleaning my room and i saw a roach i tried catching it lil bugger is fast..i was playing with it for a lil while..why? i dont know i get distracted easily ANYWAYS..i threw it in the air and it landed in mr.FH's tank (who hasnt eaten for a week) and POW! he ate it..my wife is laying on the bed laughing her ass off..and said "is that all he wanted...was a roach?" so im wondering if "house roaches" are safe? i dont have a roach problem im so i dont use any pesticides

I dont feed my FH anything other than whats packaged. Only my opinion. Too many pesticides and crap out there. Maybe I am a little too narrow minded when it comes to feeding him. There is so many different foods out there. But, it is funny that he hammered the roach. As long as he ain't smokin' it no harm caused, right? Post a pic of him. Mine is on my avatar.

Keep the roaches coming lol. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I like to catch grasshoppers and feed them to my fish some times.

hes getting skinny which is really worrying me..he swims around normal..when i throw pellets in..he swims up..sniffs it and swims away..would "crickets" be a good alternative?

i think he got tired of pellets cause i feed it to him everyday since i got him 3x's a day and i throw some in everytime i walk by..maybe i needa switch it up more...

oh i forgot to mention his stomach started to sink in a little bit...but his feces isnt white and stringy its "redish orange" im guessing from the pellets he used to eat..so im guessing he dont have any parasites..i also treated him with quick cure for 4 days ago..cause i saw lil salt like spots on his fins which all cleared up...blah..i just hope he starts to eat like a beast again..

oh and if anyone can suggest any other foods i can try that he might like ..i tried all kinds of pellets (cichlid gold=didnt eat, cichlid gold sinking=didnt eat , NLS= didnt eat , hai feng= USED TO EAT, frozen bloodworms=kinda not really..)

Yea try to switch foods and see what happens. Have you tried worms???

yeah try live worms . earthworms , bloodworms . and sure , hook him up with some crickets . that oughtta cheer him up . theres plenty of other dry foods to try as well ...

I used to feed my flowerhorn all sorts of bugs, cause bug diseases dont transfer to fish I believe. i used to feed him dragonflys, roaches and grasshoppers.

i tried earthworms 3-4 times he ate it...but like he did with the pellets he stopped eating that too...

is he still acclimating ? if so , i'd just give him some time . if not , i'd be concerned about parasites .
