so sand is great looking, right?
WRONG!
anyone considering sand bottoms, RETHINK IT!!! lol

when i was talking to my LFS guy about my new tank the other day i told him it was sand bottom and he just laughed. upon asking why he told me nothing except "good luck" with the cleaning... now i know what he meant!!!

its been a total of 13 hours. literally.
my tank cycled, time for fish, i put in my 2 smallest pbass, and maybe 10 feeders ...

yeah there is already crap (literally) all over the bottom of my tank ...
to make matters worse, I STILL HAVE ANOTHER BASS, TSN, ARO, and CLOWN KNIFE to go in the tank!!!

its tan pool filter sand ... any suggestions??

vac up the poop and up the filtration...

ya thats good lol. bc the poop sits on top of sand intead of falling between rocks, so u just do a quick siphon and bang its clean again, or do what i did and put a jet in there and make more water movement. and that stuff never sits its always all over tell it gets sucked up

Sand isn't that hard to use. The guy at the LFS was kind of a jerk or probably just doesn't know how to clean sand.

How big is your tank?

sand has its ups and downs, i think its alright, i have both and and gravel, i think the sand kind of makes the fish look bland, when i upgrade in a year or at least change venues i will change my SA tank back to gravel

get some water circulating on the bottom. It's not a big deal. I love my tanks that have a sand bottom.

I agree with the bland part, for Freshwater fish anyway. I recently started my first sand substrate tank and the fish look so dark! Even my blue and green Crayfish looks dull.
