I was thinking about picking up some GSP's or some Figure 8's and I have a few questions before doing so.

How large do these get? I've read that Fig 8's may grow up to around 3" or so, while GSP's may grow up to 7". Is this true?

Will these puffers tolerate their own kind? If I buy any, I'd like to buy more than one. I'm considering setting my 29gal back up as brackish, so that's how much space I'll have.

What SG should the water be for these guys? I'm assuming that when I buy them from a LFS, they will be in mostly fresh water. I plan to mimic the LFS water and slowly bring up the salinity. At what rate should I bring up the salinity, and approximately how much salt is required to do so per gallon?

Thank you!

I have 2 gsp's and a figure 8 in my 125 and they get along just fine. But there are plenty of other fish and plants and deco to distract them. I would have a definite backup plan in case they don't get along since i have heard and read lots about them not getting along in groups. Also 29 might be a little small for multiple gsp's so I would look into f8's, They are beautiful and entertaining fish even if they don't get quite as large.

I was leaning towards the Fig 8's since they stay smaller. So your advice boils down to space and plants to keep them distracted and separated, correct? I'm going to start with 3 to try to break up any aggression. Would you advise me putting mollies in the tank as well?

May not need them but I don't see why not. I personally have 5 black mollies in mine. Mine do just fine together, just make sure you get a good male to female ratio.
At least 3 females for every male.

And nice name guy- Me too

Yea, that much I know. I've had mollies before....and then there were more mollies....and then there were even more mollies...and then I sold them so I had no more mollies.

Nothing? Not even a titter from someone? I've searched for the topic, but I can't seem to find anything useful.
