GT aggression?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't know what I'm gonna do! lol... I just stopped in the LFS on my lunch break and they had a couple of jags, really small (like 1"). Maybe I'll pick one up and put it in my 20 gal with my pleco and see how he looks like he will be. If he is a hard*** then I have an empty 55 that could be his for awhile.

Of course they also had a few nice 3" green terrors.... decisions!

Jags are very smart,I use to own one.As for the GT,they are good fishes where they will be the first one up front to the glass to greet you,but they will shred another cichlid when they reach 5 to 6 inches.I had a female that I had to get rid of,due to her violent nature towards only specific tank mates that only minded their own business.

In case anyone was curious, I ended up going back to the LFS after work and picking up one of the small jags they had. I couldn't talk myself out of it, and I'm looking forward to raising this one from such an early stage to adulthood (barring any tragedies of course).

Anyway, this guy is literally like 3/4" long... he is hanging out in a 10 gal for the time being with a couple of small goldfish. Was eating within minutes of going in the tank, and also chasing the goldfish all over the place (good sign that he's possibly male I suppose, really want that coloration). I have a pic, it's pretty bad but gives you an idea on how small he is...

(ignore the scuff marks, they are just on the garage wall behind the tank)
