Hi all

Is this is a colour variant? Looks so cool. I will pick him up today after work if he's still around.

Let me know what you think or if I should just go with his orange finned brethren! Haha.

They could be the white saum rivulatus but they look a bit like blue acara crosses to me.
The gold saum in the picture below is a young male and very attractive should make a stunning adult.
It looks just like mine did at that age.
I would go for the gold if it were me.
Something looks a bit wrong with those white edged ones,I think they are crosses.

Yeah I think I'll grab the gold one. Looks absolutely stunning.

So there is only one white finned one in the bunch. Definitely not as colourful overall as the rest. Should have clarified that, only one but a few pics.

They're in a tank with pikes and jags so a fair bit of fighting going on. Is that why they're so dark?

White saum, silver saum-- can mean different things to different people, depending on their understanding, which isn't always consistent or accurate. So I'll dispense with that-- he's a rivulatus, which can have either gold/orange/reddish edged fins or white edged fins. The white finned ones used to be more common at lfs, but ime you now mostly see gold edged. The white edged rivulatus are sometimes mistaken for blue acara, especially by some who are used to seeing only the gold edged.

Anyway, looks like a nice one, but the dark color and dramatic bars is a mood thing, not their normal look... as mentioned already, no doubt due to stress or aggression in the tank. Gold one is showing stress bars also, along with a nipped off dorsal. In a different tank, either one would keep the fin color and show more normal body and head color.

If I had to guess, based only on those photos, I'd guess the green terrors were at the moment the top dogs in the tank, which, of course, could change at any time. Jags and green terrors tend not to like each other from what I've seen.

Andinoacara stalsbergi will also show white fins. To me the head profile looks wrong.I would put my money on them being rivulatus/blue acara crosses. The gold one looks all rivulatus.
