GT at LFS with white fin edges

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've seen all kinds of different species jump out of tanks.

I figured as much but thought I'd ask. The cover I have is ugly as sin. I put it back on but will be looking for a new one.

Really like the light/water shimmer from my LED light (never had one before) and it was more pronounced without the cover on.

better safe than sorry. i don't think the gt are known to be jumpers like oscars but some fish just want freedom.

Interesting... I thought I read an article by Alf Stalsberg saying that the original imports(known at the time to be green terrors) where later classified as Stalsbergi and the later imported fish would come to be called rivulatus. I will have to look at it again.
Imo the confusion comes from the fact that at one time what is now stalsbergi was thought by some experts to be the 'true' rivulatus, different thing than the true green terror, but somewhere along the line hobbyists-- and, as I recall, some hobbyist books and articles in fishkeeping magazines-- interpreted this to mean true green terror.

In other words, debate among experts on which was the true rivulatus erroneously morphed in the hobby into a debate over a true green terror. For years you could find books and articles with photos of what is now stalsbergi labeling it as the true rivulatus and explaining how the green terror commonly found in the hobby (rivulatus) wasn't really a rivulatus (except that it is). Again, some people and articles morphed this into saying rivulatus wasn't the true green terror-- except that stalsbergi has turned out to be stalsbergi and the fish first imported and nicknamed 'green terror' was what turned out to be rivulatus.

In fact, in 1982, there was a German article about what is now stalsbergi, calling it the 'green terror that isn't'-- except that at the time stalsbergi was thought to be rivulauts, so it was actually stalsbergi that was being called the 'green terror that isn't'. But, at the time stalsbergi was thought to be rivulatus, so it was handed down that rivulatus is the green terror that isn't, a false green terror. In other words, the actual fish considered by some to be a false green terror back then was actually stalsbergi, erroneously labeled as rivulatus. And the 'true green terror' at the time has also turned to be the true rivulauts. See why it gets confusing?
