GT Color are a little dull.

:iagree: Yeah thats also what i thought. Anyhow, it may be as stated above that it could be the non dominate fish, or you could try to feed it krill to bring out the orange coloration around the finnage if its a gold saum anyway. Or you could just wait and see what happens, the fish might not be settled in, how recently did you get it? And maybe its female and not sexually mature,as when this occurs they are more colorfull. Well good luck.:)

i thought the Aequidens Rivulatus was the true Green Terror? The other two were the false GTs?

That is true.
Cichlid-forums is wrong in that link.

Haha my dull GT is actually bigger than my brighter one. Hopefully its a female and they breed. That would be sweet. Has anyone ever had problesm with black algae growing on their dritwood? I seem to have an infestation on mines so i removed it and i am letting it dry. does anyone have any better remedies for this problem?

Can you send me more info on this? I never knew there was such things as fake terrors.

Rivulatus is supposed to be the original green terror. Rapps has had them at times, and you can see a pic on his site. The saums, silver and gold, are not the original, and should therefore be considered "false", but for some reason, the silver is often cited as being the "real" gt, and the gold, "false". Imo, a high-quality gold is better looking, and if what you're after is snob appeal, then you need to have the original, not the silver saum.

Another book told me the orginal one had a green border on the fishes tail where it meets the orange.

And the false ones dont...

Its easy:

Aequidens sp. "Gold Saum" aka green terror, false GT, gold saum:

Aequidens sp. "Silver Saum" : aka green terror, false GT, silver saum:

Aequidens rivlatus: green terror, true green terror

Lesson: Don't use common names. Gold and Silver Saums are the same thing with differnt pigment on the tail and dorsal fringes.

well i had to separate the two anyway cause the bigger one was getting beat up. what would be the best foods to bring out the color? I seen JCA's gt and its super bright?
