Nice tank:thumbsup: i want that background.

Thank you. Background I got from Drs Foster & Smith. Go to their site...have only ordered the background and some plants but they're a top notch operation from my experience with them. They even held the plants for a couple of weeks so they didn't get frozen on the trip here (NY is mighty snowy in the winter and early spring)

I have an 8" GT also and he's not showing any signs of a hump either. He's in there with 2 firemouths and runs the tank. I kinda prefer him the way he is though without the hump.

By the way, nice tank. Love the driftwood. Is that one piece?

Thanks. :D

The driftwood is actually 5-6 pieces stacked up. It took about a year to completely leach out all the tannins in them too. I think I may add two more big pieces to fill out the big open space. They will still have plenty of swimming room too. Nothing fancy but each piece ran about $25 at Country Max. I have one small piece of wood in there with anubias barteri thats growing wild, and another which I wedged an anubias nana into, both are doing great

As for the GT I guess I'll try going back to feeding higher protein and a few earthworms here and there. He DIGS those suckers!!:grinno:

i love the shape of your GT. i would keep him like that if i were you and im not so whatever you want your fish to look like, go for it.:)
mine had a hump before it hit the 3 inch mark:(

Deuce is battling the JD every day right now. Pushing and ip locking nothing too serious but he's actively displaying his dominance. Isn't this exactly what he needs to develop a Nuchal hump?

What food would you recommend? what do you guys feed FH's and Midas? Pretty much the same stuf I do I'd think

not all saums get nuchal humps. be lucky if yours does, although i think nuchals should be left for amphilophus, hericthys, and flowerhorns. i think nuchals are gross on aequidens.
LOL that's kind of funny. they're natural, but gross.

headrush how do you get your pics to come out so nicely

Nothing fancy
Nikon Coolpix 4300 (4.0 megapixel) on auto, on top of the ol' $3 garage sale tripod in the living room
:naughty:

thanks

I need to figure out how to take good shots with the flash off tho. Its like the shutter speed slow way down, and moving objects (fish) get blurry

your fish prob won't develop a nuchal hump. If it hasn't happened by 8" then it's prob not gonna happen. It's a nice fish without one though.

what he said, most of my fish that get over 8" have nuchal humps by at least 4".
