Thanks. Do you know anywhere close to LAX airport that I can get some?

No, I don't, I stick to all the LFS's in the SGV, and a couple in Long Beach.

Does anyone know the scientific name for the GT's. Id like to do a lil research as far as growth, max size, diets, etc... What I need to know on housing a pair

Here is my gold saum that I got back at the beginning of July at 2.5":

He is now in a 75gal with a parrot, some convict/sajica hybrids, and some yoyo and blue botia.

Burt:)

Nice GT's. I just got 3 night before last (thanks to Cohazard). What do you guys feed them to get their awsome colors? I got some cichlid gold (hikari cichlid), some alge flakes, frozen beef heart, and some frozen shrimp. Am I on the right track????? :)

Sounds good to me! :D

Honestly though, I've noticed that when I feed more frozen shrimp than pellets, their color tends to fade.

The diet you're feeding sounds very good, they will grow like crazy and develop really nice color.

I can't wait to see that female when she's bigger, she has such a nice thick tail

Hey Cohazard,
Man, Which one was the female? It was pretty late when I picked them up and could hardly see.I think the really big one is the male (the one that had bite marks on one side). The sm ones, one had both black spots on both sides and the other had one darker than the other. Or can you post a pic of the female (if you still have any?). By the way my daughter loves them, and i do have to get rid of one. I don't think I can house 3 of them for about 1.5yrs. before transferring to the 150gl. Do you think the 2 smaller ones are a pair? I'm leaning on letting the bigger one go, plus hes a little more aggressive.

I believe the two smaller ones are females. By bite marks, do you mean silver spots on the side? That's normal, the faded markings on the side is a sign of dominance.

If you don't want him I'll take him back, he's going to be a nice one. :)

Glad to hear your daughter likes them, should be cool watching them grow! :D
