So, I was getting chewed out by my boss last night and I couldn't help but notice his 55g fishtank. Inside it he had a roughly 3" JD and a GT of the same size. I sort of broke the mood of this talk when I started asking him about his fish, which was awesome cuz my fish knowledge came in handy! :naughty: But a jack dempsey and a green terror in a 55g? your thoughts?

I think that they should each have a 55gal, but that's my opinion. My 3" Flowerhorn already has a 55 gal to himself. He'll probably make the jump to a 90 eventually.

50-50 chance they will get along due to the fact they are growing togetther from a young size........I would say dump one and get apir for the the remaining.........

You rarely see a JD over 10" so he will be fine in the 55, even a pair would work. A 55 would be a bit tight for a full-grown GT though.

cannot guarantee they will get along in any set-up . . .

my JD totally owned my GT - - they grew up together, from 2" to about 8" each - -and they were in a 90G tank.

ultimately, the GT went to the LFS

but in a 55G, the odds just get worse . . . lose the GT would be my advice

yeah i mean if he is lucky enough for them to remain getting along as they mature then it might be ok but he will definitely have to be doing lots of water changes to make sure they stay healthy as the bioload would be a bit much but they are both not that fast of growers (some can be but generally they are ok growers but not what i would consider fast) and it takes several years for either of them to come close to 10in
