So Cal
i was planning to get one of these fish for a 75 gal setup for the main centerpiece fish and was wondering which one has more personality (attack the glass, come to the top for feeding, stuff like that)

ive never kept either of these so i want to give them a shot because i got a spare 75 gal with just a few barbs in it right now and they ignore me completely unless its feeding time :)

any advice from past experiences would be appreciated.

PS my first post yay!

My male GT is 6" now, he was 2" when I got him 4 months ago so he's grown fast. Personality close to an Oscar as far as begging and coming to the front. I love his personality and he's gorgeous. I just got my Carpinitis Escondido fry 2 wks ago and they're only an inch but they're little beggars, too. I don't know what they're personalities will be like as adults though. My GT doesn't attack the glass or anything but he certainly knows me and likes me and isn't shy. A 75 gal would be a nice size for a centerpeice fish for a GT.

i dont think either will be a glass banger but out of the the 2 id say chances are more likely with the texas. try to go with both in a 75. may get along and may not. never know.

i love my texas its a great fish but i'd go with a jack dempsey (even tho its not an option) ive had a few and they have great personalities but then again so do most cichlids like that so go with what you think looks best

I have kept both..they have similar personalities but the GT was far more active and the texas tended to hide a little more. The green terror is the prettier fish IMO but you could probably try doing both in a 75

I wouldn't go with the dempsey, because typically they are more skittish

id say go for the GT

get a gt its much nicer fish. i have 2 carpinte and i have found that they are quite shy and mine dont come to the top for food. i have one gt at the moment and had one before too and they are quite personable and friendly.. to me that is. also texas are more aggressive. if you plan on getting a texas dont plan on any smaller fish in the tank, theyll just be a waste of money

Carpintis are nice looking fish but imo the Green Terror looks better. A male GT has long flowing majestic fins and is beautiful when swimming around. Ime they're also more personable and interactive with their owners when mature. Mine was almost puppy dog like. GT for the win.

Texas cichlids have more personality. They are also taller and a little longer than the GT's. I personally love the color of the GT's more. But for coolness factor, as a centerpiece for a 75, go with the Texas. Or a Carpintis.
