GT pair agression

I have a pair of GT's males aroudn 8ins and female about 6, they spawned once about a year ago and ate the eggs.

However they have just been moved into a nice 4 foot tank, the female was happy as larry settling in for about 2 weeks before the male came over, as soon as he got dropped in about 2 weeks ago its all gone to pot!

he CONSTANTLY pecks her, tail and one of her front fins is really ragged, I realize cichlid love can be tough, but this looks like overkill to me
Is there any way to get this kind of behaviour kerbed? theres a 10inch oscar going in shortly and i want everything perfect

suggestions?

You need a much bigger tank 6ft or more especially if you plan to add a oscar. I would assume the tank is 55 or 75G. It sounds like agression to me and not spawning behavior. They are probabally fighting over territory.

best thing would be to send one packing, ie the male?

I'd keep the male for sure if he's a looker

Definitely would scratch the Oscar idea in this tank tho
