I would wait untill the female is little bigger mine didint show signs of breeding untill she was 6.5"

Hmm, Im still gonna say female. It is hard to determine some things with pics. Its alot easier for me when i can look at a fish day in and day out as it grows to see consistent patterns and colors. i do see that yours is displaying bars which wouldnt say one way or the other on sex, i also see the bars run into the dorsal which still in pics can be decieving. but in the second pic i see a nice red undertone to its body. your festae looks exactly like the females i have. my males will tend to bar up on occasion but they seem to hold the lateral line or spots if you will and their body tones show more of a green or yellow compared to my females that havent displayed the lateral line/spots and they carry a red blush or under tone to their body.

I also know with pics the lighting in certain areas of the tank can show different colors on the fish. and that second pic looks to me what your festae would show on a consistant basis, hence the reson for my decision as a female. But it may look as this will be some debate for a lil while;) lol so i guess we'll see in another month or so:)

Thanks guys.....
Freshwaterpredators I think it might actualy be female I see what you meen but the dots but what confuses me is the lines overlap the anal fin.... gues i have to vent to be sure..

Lol:) it's ok bro it took me a couple years before I started to figure out festea's:) and it's all good, we all have patients and are waiting to see ourselves
