Home of the brave.
My 6-7 inch GT has a sunken belly and refuses to eat anything but blood worms i have done the jungle parasite clear but it didnt seem to help. Any body else have any suggestions??? Should I take him out of my community tank as well?

yeah i would isolate him as quickly as you can until you figure out what the matter is. it sounds like a parasite to me though. what did you use to treat it? maybe you should use a different brand or something. while he's sick try frozen and live foods. (specifically beefheart)

GT are prone to internal parasites, I used metro when this happened to mine. I bought the Jung tank buddies for internal and external parasites, the box has a picture of an oscar on it and it worked wonders. Just follow the directions :]

If you can get your g/t to eat live brine I have a trick that worked wonders with my g/t. I got the tip from a friend that does this to get rid of anything his wild seahorses might introduce to his tank. Get a portion of live brine and keep them in the bag with the water they come with. Add 2.5 ml of prazipro and wait for at least an hour. You can wait for up to two hours after two hours the brine start to die. In this wait time the brine will absorbe and consume as much of the medication as they can. You are essentially medicating the live food. Then dump the brine into a net (to strane out the medicated water) and feed. No need for a big water change or anything like that just do you regular maintnance. I did that twice a week for two weeks about a month and a half ago and now my g/t is nuts about food and his belly is nice and plump. I tried those tank budys two and got no results. Now when I get a new fish it goes into qt and gets this food twice in a week and if all looks well I confidently add it to my tank. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

Sunken belly and refusing food are two of three signs that point to internal parasites. See also if your g/t was white poo and/or poo that stays on the vent for any length of time kinda like a pleco poop. Useually the poop is stringy sometimes its just white and falls imediatly other times it just light brown and hangs on for a long time I think these are diffrent types of parasites. I don't know for sure but I've delt with two and have only read about the third. Also keep your water crystal clean. Your fish will fare much better in rejecting the parasite and retaining any medications if its natural immune system is in tip top shape. Increasing the temp is supposed to help to. I have never had any resluts in increasing the temp alone and I think that's better for external parasites.

If he refuses to eat anything but blood worms, why not just pump him full of those? Sounds like stubborness..

+1

My fish are picky as well. They rarely venture outside of bloodworms/beefheart. Except my Sveni. He eats everything.
