rocky mount,NC
i sold allmost of my other fish and bought a green terror today
the tank still has a african butterfly fish and 2 mollies (mom bought them and put em in there)
the tank is a 40 breeder
i might be getting some charax gibbious soon but not sure yet
i am open to all sugestions

well the mollies will probably be food for the gt but maybe add some dithers

ok it might eat them but what tank mates will not be eating
will cuban cichlids work or ? please list some

cuban probably can hold his ground but the problem is 40 gal might be to small for 2 aggressive fish but u can always try :)

anything you put in there wil him atm will be a temporary tank mate 40 gal is just big enough for 1 adult gt. if you are gona up grade some silver dollars will take a bit of a gt handshake every now and then and their fins grow back fairly fast if you have good water quality.

if your GT grows to its full potential and is male then a 3ft tank is not going to be big enough. if its female you should be fine but a 4ft would be ideal if you can stretch to accomodating an extra foot of tank. the tank foot print is the main issue with tank size for cichlids rather than volume.
tankmates depend on the individual fish and not on the reputation the breed has. if you put in aggressive tankmates now you may force the bad attitude into your GT and you will have to get gradually more aggressive tankmates or maybe none even if you get a tank is big enough to accomodate tankmates.

yea its a female i think im going to try the cubans i realy want a jag though

Your tank isn't big enough for either of those fish.
