GT that won't eat?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did you change anything prior to your gt quit eating like foods, water conditioner, added/removed livestock.....
If nothing had changed I would isolate and treat for a parasite
Although fish with active parasites arnt normally really active

He is probably stressed out from the other fish. If he is, I would recommend moving him to his own tank. There's a lot of posts on this same issue with Green Terrors, Saums in the forum. Lower your temperature to 75 degrees. Keep it there until he has rebounded. Feed him sparingly until he comes around. Don't overfeed during this time. Good luck!

The only change was removing a hyper aggressive Salvini, and adding a Buttikoferi. The Salvini didn't bother the GT too much, mostly the Vieja. The Buttikofferi so far is very chilled out, swims a lot and digs. I think I actually forgot to list that in my stock!

I suppose it could have been from the Salvini, but he's gone. The GT doesn't get bothered though. Proof is in his fins lol. Every other fish in the tank has a little bit of tail-tatter as I like to call it, except the Buttikofferi and the GT which are 100% intact.

Oh, also.... The only fish the GT doesn't like is the smaller Regani. The GT will actively chase it away when it comes near him. The GT definitely doesn't show any signs of being sick but he hasn't eaten in a LONG time. Very strange...
