That's pretty bad...I would put it down...

HITH is a symptom of bad water and diet over a long period of time

It is not a life threatening disease so I don't see why the fish should be put down because it is 'not nice to look at'

It is your call as it is your fish. I personally would keep the fish

Hasi,
The water quality and diet are the same as the rest of the cichlids I have.
This fish first developed this in the main tank with the others a Texas-Salvini-Raindow- 6 Gouriams all who are healthy. So in this situation I think you may be wrong when you say water quality and diet . Unless this fish needs special care the others do not. I had bought the fish 2.5 months before this broke out. Could it have been the water quality before I got him. I dont think from the lfs since they sell the best quality fish I have seen.
Poor water quality just can not be the answer in this case.
Do you know were I can get a med that may at least stop the deterioration of this fish.
I did contact a vet about this months ago and he wanted 75.00 just to look at the fish maybe he could have stopped this from getting as bad as it did. What do you think?
I do respect your opinion about keeping the fish but wont the fish die of hith anyway.
Just asking questions to learn about this.

You should have used the Metro, as the previous posted suggested.

IME, Melafix and Pimafix (I use the pond concentrate for my koi) are best as a PREVENTION or for MINOR scrapes and scratches. Do not use Mela/pima-fix for curing diseases it has NEVER worked for me.

I would try the metro first. I've had a few fish I thought about putting down (they were in BAD shaped) and they ended up pulling through.

Good luck and keep us updated!!!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
