I HAVE TWO GT'S BUT ONE OF THEM HASN'T GROWN A INCE AND SEEMS VERY SCARY FOR A WHILE NOW.I HAVE CHANGED HIS TANK ALREADY BUT I DIDNT SEE A CHANGE SO I PUT HIM BACK IN WITH MONSTER'S.HE EATS AND SWIMS LIKE HE IS OK BUT THE QUESTION THAT I HAVE IS.I NOTICED THAT HE NEVER SPREADS HIS TAIL WIDE AS MY OTHER GT,SO TO GET TO THE POINT OF THE THREAD.

IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIM?

HIS TAIL IS ALWAYS LIKE CLOSE IF IM MAKING ANY SENSE.

how do you know he is a he? If it turns out to be a female she may have spawned and that would explain the lack of growing. Some cichlids stop growing after laying egges the first time. GT is one of those cichlids.

Post some pics.

Judging by your other threads CF, you've probably got him in with bigger guys, which you call monsters. If this is the case, he is probably stressed the heck out, hence the clamped fins/tail. If he's that stressed out, he may not be getting enough to eat which would also play in to his not growing well.

Not quite sure why you insist on doing things your way to learn from your own mistakes when others have been through the same situation time and again and are able to provide plenty of proof and experience. It's on the same level of gar's mom. All the info available but refusing to listen to any of it.

when you say in with monsters, just how big, aggressive and what kind?
GT's are quite shy at a young age and scare easily, i agree with teqvet it is probably scared out its mind if its tankmates are far bigger than it.

THE GT IN QUESTION IS ONE OF MY FIRST FISH THAT I HAD IN A TANK THAT I DIDNT CATCH.

SO HE OR SHE HAS WAT WE CALL CLUMPED FIN/TAIL RITE?

THE FISH HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR MONTHES NOW AND HE EATS FINE BUT I CAN SEE THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH HIM AND I TOOK HIM OUT MY 90 AND PUT HIM IN A 55 BY HIS SELF AND HE STILL WAS ACTING FUNNY

AND I DONT NEED THE EXTRA CRAP U DIDNT WAKE UP ONE DAY AND KNEW EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT CICHLIDS

SO GIVE ME A BREAK AND GET OFF MY BACK!!!!

HE HAS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN IN THE TANK WITH THE PIKES

IS IT CLUMPED FIN YOU GUYS THINK HE HAS?

THATS ALL ASKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had a loisellei that was being terrorised by a gold sev, he still ate but didnt grow and always had his fins clamped. i got him a new home and he was still acting weird for a while after, like he was scared the sev was gonna come. then he started to boss his loisellei tankmates around in the lfs as he got his confidence back but it did take a while. thats why i focused on stress in your case, the story sounded familiar.
my guess would be a similar case for your GT unless he is having obvious trouble swimming then it would be wise to look towards an affliction.

WHATS WITH THE CAPS LOCK!!??

Just listen to these guys, you seem to ask questions but not listen to what the people tell you yes we didnt wake up and know everything, which is why we have this site.. To learn and educate others. Just because it has been in with the other tankmates for months doesnt mean it is a happy fish, it is most likely stressed and you need to put it in a stress free environment. If you are going to refuse to listen to the voices here on MFK why do you continue to ask questions?
