i recently purchased two GT's, i figured they were M and FM when i got them....they might have been 2 inches long when i got them...i had them in a 29 gallon tank with a couple of other smaller cichlids, but i just put them in there own little 10 gallon (dont hate...its just a temporary sittuation till my new tank is done)...but i took them out because they were bulling the smaller fish...they have been in the 10 gallon for exactly one week now...i woke up this morning and there are eggs all over the inside of there little house/cave.

now what do i do? ive never bred fish befor...and this seems a little early considering they cant even be 3 inches long yet...please help if u can.

thanks

Immediately take out any other fish in the tank. Let the parents guard and fan the eggs until they hatch. Once the eggs hatch, the parents will can stay with them for a few weeks. At that point remove the parents too. Acutally, depending how many fry there are, a 10g might not be big enough. You probably need a 20 long. Feed the babies baby brine and Hikari First Bites. Put a sponge over the intake of your filter and keep your water very clean.

how do you tell weather they are fertilized or not????

the eggs that turn white are unfertalised and dead, the ones that stay with the clearish complextion are fertalized

I think of them as more of a brownish/tannish color when they're fertile.

may depend on species of fish, i really have only breed a couple speices of parachromis and amphilophus, never Gt's or such, that is just from my own observations

there is a couple white ones here and there...they just kinda pop up once in a while...id say i have about 200-300 eggs....how long is this process????

Congrads Grandpa :)

btw, the parents may mess up, panic, and eat all the eggs if this is their first batch. Don't worry, they get better
