Guess the poly (oh no not this again)

I don't see the racing stripe of sp. Dabola. Definitely an Endli. Most likely Volta.

IMO an endli as well. Definitely not sp. Dabola.

Hmm.. what’s the distinguishing feature between these 2 bichirs? One of them is a sp dabola and the other is still under discussion

You can see the sp. dabola in that pic has the racing stripes like a lapradei. But has the look of an endli but green. That's how I "usually" look at it. Black Volta endlis IMO are the poor man sp. dabola.
Btw doesn't that sp. dabola belong to a Bichir keeper in Korea?

Oh right. Sp. dabola typically have headshape of a Guinean endli or Guinean lap when younger but most of the adult ones have a pretty standard look from many sp. dabola I've seen.

Nice pieces Alex! It has been stated by an African importer that endli have 12-13 dorsal spines, and a sp. Dabola has 14-15. These were the first photos we got from toyin when he introduced us to sp. Dabola. But then again. This is some years ago. Many unusual polys have been labeled as sp. Dabola with less than 13 spines since.....

So I had a chat with King-eL King-eL and he concluded that the second piece is a sp guinea. He distinguishes sp guinea and sp dabola from the head structure, with the former having the head structure of a endli/ansorgii and the latter having that of a Bichir sp. pics attached for your reference and further discussion. In the 1st and 3rd pics, the poly under discussion is on top, and I think hao’s Dabola is at the bottom half of the pics.
