I work at a pet store and we take in animals and fish that people don't want or can't take care of anymore. Well this morning someone brought in a bamboo cat shark in. It's beautiful...... it's a little over a foot long. We're gonna have a hard time finding someone with a large enough tank for it. We have a sign on the tank that says it needs a 180 gallon tank. Before he can go to someone they need proof that they have a large enough tank for him. The poor thing is probably miserable in the tank he's in now. The people who bought him didn't want him anymore because it was eating their fish...... you would think they would have known a shark would eat other fish.
I'm hoping that's he'll go to someone that as a large enough tank for him and will take good care of him.

Hopefully you can find someone with a large enough tank but depending on the which kind of pet store you work at it may be difficult.

I know it's gonna be hard to find somone to take him. The people tried to take him back to the store where they bought him and they wouldn't take him back. I don't think bamboo sharks should be sold as pets with the exception of people who know what they are doing and know what they are getting themselves into.

Oh I know. I used to work at a Pet Supplies Plus and we had people come in every week to give us fish and we rarely had quarantine room for them and we only carried FW fishes.

jeez, I would take him in a heart beat.. None of our lfs will take in unwanted fish :(.

milkman407: Too bad you do live up in Pa. We take in all kind of animals that people don't want or can't take care of anymore. The only times we won't take a fish in is if it's sick, we don't have room for it or if it's just way to big for any of our tanks. i had someone come in and ask if we could take in 2 pacus, 1 oscar and 1 pleco. They are all in a 55 gallon tank the poor fish. I told him we couldn't take the pacu's or the pleco and we could probably take in the oscar. The pacus he said were 10 and 13 inches i think he said, the oscar i think he said was 6 to 8 inches and the pleco was about 10 to 13 inches.

I know what you mean milkman. It's really hard not to take home any of the fish that come in for adoption. What's really cool is that when we adopt out animals we don't charge anything. So they are free :D
