Some of the purest cleanest bass you're ever going to hear.

One of the most efficient subs ever built. You will have a difficult time beating the efficiency rating on the dual 2 15s.

Unfortunately also one of the most expensive subs to recone when you exceed the 800 rms rating.... They'll take about 3 times that in the right box, but if it's not the right box the papercone will fold.... Payoff for rediculous effeciency is the weak cone.

I'll do you one better.... The name of that Vega is easy. Do you know WHO took them to the world champion status they are known for? I'll give you a clue, the guy had a weak spot in his heart for "fun dip" and he came from Missouri. The vehicle was a VW. Both had nicknames.

no... i do not know who did... but you can tell me :)

Aaron Roberts.... AKA "Chili" Team Pure Sound. If I'm not mistaken they handed Alma Gates her *** a few times.

Team Pure Sound ran a VW bus van. Yellow. It was called "Big Jim" Had a motorized amp rack in the back holding all the Zapco 9.0s.

The guy was a genius. They were loud in a Rabbit but after building Big Jim it was over, they wrecked the SPL world.

I remember reading about him and the "Thunder in the Ozarks" show. He grabbed the world record there.

Have to google the vid with Big Jim and the 9.0s on $30 sparkomatic 6 by 9s... Doing #s most people couldn't do with modern equipment and unlimited funds... For fun.

im looking for that video now... i remember alma gates and the PPI's she was using... i also remember that bronco with the MTX set up... god i miss the old school stuff

Alma did another Bronco....

Don't think they ever got the enclosure right though....

It's funny how the #s changed over the years.

We went to new "mics" in 03. Actually a sensor instead of a mic. Man what a kick in the balls......

I had a chance to put my van on a mic (instead of sensor) back in 04. 159 on the sensor was good for a 169.4 on the mics. Baffling to think my lil van with 2 woofers with the setup I won with in 06 was probobly close to as loud as Almas PPI set up was with what? 46 subs? Technology..........

I'll do some video hunting this afternoon.

Another good one was Mike Bartles's extreme van shredding a sunday paper at mid 170s (on sensor of course) same van (4 15s) does almost a 160 with DECK POWER....... Try wrapping your mind around that. Took my van well over 20K watts to do a 160 and he does it off a deck without a single amp. Talk about efficiency. And dude uses JBL subs.
