Guess what i found at petsmart store today

Nice color, but no hump. FH is graded by hump size first, color second.

It's a baby they don't typically show a hump that small till they get some size on them

The petsmart near me is selling these as red Texas cichlids, even though they look just like the op's pick. They've had at least one around 5" for the last few weeks.

Nice find. Petsmart are not all bad. The one nearest to me does not have a wide selection of fish so I dont buy from them, but the fish always look healthy and the tanks are always clean.
Not like some I have been in!

Wish the ones in Memphis did. Most are kept in decent conditions (besides the poor feeder goldfish) or I'll see schooling fish like silver dollars alone.

How small is it. The potential for big hump should be apparent at 5 inch. If hump isn't showing at that size, it's either a female or a low grade male that has low potential for big hump.

Well, you might find something good from petsmart from time to time but I'm quite sure you won't get high quality fishes especially with FL species.

If you're lucky you can find some gems there. My problem with Petsmart/co fish is getting them past the first few weeks in a nice healthy low nitrate environment. Some make it, some don't.

Just eyeballing the photo it looks to be about an inch. An inch and a half at most. Most Petsmarts I've been in don't keep fish bigger than 2 inches.

The worker there told me that if it get bigger in couple week, they would sell the flower for half priced. Maybe that time i would buy him.
