So I was in the process of cleaning my 20 gallon tall that has two acaras, two severums and a firemouth (all still juveniles, about an inch) and guess what I happened to find? Eggs!!! The severums are still too small to breed (plus I think at this point they're both male) and the firemouth is alone, so they can't be anything but blue acara eggs. I was shocked! I'm already taking care of dempsey babies, lol. It must be breeding season in my household! I had thought both my acaras were male, but guess not. Anybody have experience with acara eggs/babies? Any info would be great. :nilly:

Best picture I could get. Sorry for the crappy quality.

So update this morning...the eggs have turned into wigglers. They're in a pit near the back of the tank and the female is heavily guarding them. I'm super excited to see what happens with these fish. :)

JD's and now this!

It really is the season to be jolly at your house!

Congratulations!

sweet dude. i am checking around where i live and i found out that if my oscars breed i can get 10 bucks for a 2 inch baby. if only i could find a source of free baby food....

I love blue acara and would some day love to breed them. Keep us update on the little ones.:)
